We are SO excited to announce the first program to be funded by the Starkville Community Foundation! Neighbor in Need provides emergency funds for Oktibbeha County Residents with the goals of:
Keeping people in their homes - most families in America are one bad bill away from eviction.
Lowering eviction in our county - Starkville's housing boom is great for homeowners but tough on renters.
Giving participants tools for future success - each participant takes three classes: a. how to lower utility bills, b. creating a monthly budget for savings, c. How to get rid of debt.
Participants can receive up to $150 toward a utility bill, rent, or auto-repair (paid directly to a company).
Participants can use the program once every six months.
Participants will be directed toward additional resources like Starkville Strong, Community Counseling, After School Programs, GED courses, workforce development training, and MS Works.
Trinity Presbyterian Church will host the program along with community volunteers one evening each week.
Our goal is to fund this program when we reach 33 Community of 1000 Members. We want to begin on September 1st.
